I work with adults located in New York or New Jersey who may be struggling with the following:
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Intrusive Thoughts
Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and Chronic Worry
Panic, Fears, and Phobias
Relationship Anxiety and People-Pleasing
Therapy with me is never a one-size-fits-all approach. I believe that there isn’t just one magical technique that works for every person’s struggle with OCD and anxiety. Together, we focus not only on the symptoms that you’re experiencing, but also on what keeps them loud and overwhelming, and set actionable, reasonable goals for getting back to living a purposeful and enjoyable life.
I draw primarily on these evidence-based treatment approaches:
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Feeling heard and understood matters. In fact, it’s one of the most important parts of working with a therapist. But I also believe therapy should always help you practice doing something differently, not just talking about the problem.
What do I mean by that?
You can’t out-talk anxiety! OCD and anxiety are very good at arguing. They will always come up with some way to bring your attention back to those scary or uncomfortable thoughts. This often sounds like, “Yes, but, what if..?”
Talking about OCD or anxiety tends to turn into playing mental ping-pong without actually breaking free from difficult thoughts and feelings.
Depending on what you might be struggling with, our therapy sessions will focus on:
Mental health concerns don’t look the same for everyone. Not sure whether what you’re dealing with is OCD, generalized anxiety, a phobia, or something else? You don’t need to have that figured out before reaching out.
